Roadmap: Keeping on track in your GP placement
A Guide for Trainees
To give you an idea of the structure of the year, this section covers the key dates and timetable of events through the year towards Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT).
By the end of the ST3 year you will need to have completed the mandatory assessments and have:
- 'Safe Guarding Children's Health' completed within 3 years of CCT date. This should be logged under the heading 'Care of Children and Young People'
- CPR Certificate (including evidence towards use of AED)
- Unplanned Unscheduled Care: At the time of induction we are awaiting the specifics of how much evidence will demonstrate Competence in what was previously known as 'Out of Hours' care. We understand this will involved a minimum of 72 hours in UUC environments beyond the normal working day, which you will receive back in lieu through your working week.
- JEST Survey completed (Survey of your training post)
At the end each year your progress is assessed and feedback given for the year ahead at your Clinical Supervisor Review (Hospital Consultant or GP) and your review with your Educational Supervisor (GP). If there are unsatisfactory outcomes at your Educational Supervisor Review, (confusingly the 'ESR'), you will be submitted to panel to determine what if anything is required to allow you to progress or leave GP training. This panel is the Annual Review of Competency Progression (ARCP).
The final panel in the ST3 year determines your progression towards Certificate of Completion of Training, (CCT).
The Royal College recommended time between ARCP and CCT means your ESR needs completing before the panel dates. This means you will need to have accumulated evidence in time for that ESR!
In 2020 the dates are as follows:
