When you call 999, the operator (the person on the phone) will ask which emergency service is required. Listen to the questions from the 999 operator.
If you cannot say ‘police’ or ‘ambulance’, respond by coughing or tapping the handset if you can.
If prompted, press 55 on your phone.
This lets the 999 call operator know it’s an emergency and that you aren’t safe to speak.
Listen and respond however you can
If prompted: press 55

Want to stop smoking? 0800 011 4656
Smoking- one of the most important factors contributing to the problems our patients live with. It's very hard to quit the addictive nature of smoking, so we want to give you the best possible support to quit successfully.
Unfortunately we cannot provide the prescription service at the practices anymore, as the funding has been put into the 'Stop Smoking Clinics'
Call 0800 011 4656 for more information or to book an appointment
Improving Access: Black Country Hub: 2019
Practices are working in partnership at the Black Country GP Hub to provide additional GP appointments between 6.30pm - 8pm during the week and Saturdays & Sundays 8am - 12:30pm, currently at Portway Practice, Oldbury.
If you need access to an evening or weekend non-urgent appointment, please call and speak to the receptionist at your registered practice during normal opening hours.
The above website is now up and running to provide our patients with a directory of resources and details to contact. Please click on the link to be directed to the Route2Wellbeing site.
The link will take you to a group of categories each containing services and contact details:
Hopefully the 'categories' folders will give you some guidance on what kind of help can be found through the Route2Wellbeing site as we have found the search option on the site to be not the most straightforward!
New Appointment System for both surgeries
From 1st April we are now offering all of our appointments for the day from the beginning of the morning- this will stop the old way we did things when we would ask you to ring back at 4pm if there were no appointments available in the morning/early afternoon, resulting in 2 high pressure times which clogged the phone lines and got our patients and staff frustrated.
If you are still having problems getting an appointment, ask about online registration where appointments can be booked without trying through the telephone.
Thankyou for your ongoing patience over a difficult March period where Drs Sharif and Naughton have left the surgery, in addition to sudden staff absences.
Staff are now returning and we have a new Doctor joining us and building up his sessions with us over the next few weeks.
We want to provide the best service we can and we share your frustration that the lack of appointments has resulted in.
All patients now have an 'allocated GP' whose name will be attached to your record at the practice. This doesn't mean that this is the only GP you can access, and it won't stop you accessing the GP you prefer to use.
If you would like to know who your named GP is, please ask at the surgery.
January 2016: Patient Survey 2015 released
Our Patient Survey from 2015 has now been reported. Please see the side menu for both the latest Survey and previous years.
Online Booking & Requesting
Online access to the appointments system and prescription requests is now available. To access this service (SystmOnline) please ask our reception team for a username and password for you and family members who would also like to take advantage of this new feature.
As of the beginning of February 2014, 5% of the practice population, (more than 500 patients), are using the service. We have had very positive feedback from those using this facility, avoiding the wait for one of our team to be able to answer the telephone for booking appointments or processing prescription requests.
Calling all carers...
Are you a carer? Is someone you know who is registered at the either surgery a carer?
Please let the surgery know. Being a carer is a full time job and it is useful for practice staff to be aware of our carers in order to provide the necessary support, from social services to flu vaccination, occupational therapy to respite care and more.
